Lately, have been super into prayer cards. I have been keeping them in my car/purse/nightstand, you name it. When life gets overwhelming, I tend to turn to the quick, easily accessible things that bring me comfort. I find a lot of comfort in prayer cards because they seem to have the words I can’t come up with myself. They bring me closer to my saintly friends and let me tell you... some prayer cards can just be so stinking pretty to look at 😍😍. . I can honestly tell you since receiving these beauties from @heart_of_iesvs I have found some of my new FAVORITE cards. Y’all, they are stunning and so well done. The best part? 100% of the profits created by these cards will be donated to @savethestorks. P.S. I don’t get any kickbacks for this. I just loved the cards that @heart_of_iesvs sent me. Genuinely, they are so so beautiful. I love what they say, represent, AND what they support. Sooo... go check em out. 😉
Saturdays. ☀️🥓🍴
“You know more than anyone that my flesh is weak And You know I'd give anything for a remedy And I'll ask a thousand more times to set me free today Oh but even if You don't, I pray Help me want the Healer More than the healing Help me want the Saviour More than the saving Help me want the Giver More than the giving Oh help me want You Jesus More than anything.” - More Than Anything, Natalie Grant 🕊 Can I tell you how many times I pray for an outcome? For a particular ‘sign’, for a feeling? Oh I do it all the time. I was looking for it today. I went to mass hoping to come out changed. Let me tell you, this song. It hits home. So much so. So today, my prayer isn’t for an outcome, it’s to want the savior, more than I want the saving.
Alright, so here it is. Ever feel like a super giant hypocrite? 🙋🏻‍♀️ Me. All the stinking time. I tend to give advice to others I need to take myself. Remember that post yesterday about letting Christ into every little corner? Y’all, I have some corners I struggle letting Him in. I literally went back and re-read my own post and was like ‘huh. I guess I need to take my own advice.’ Remember, always remember, that there are real people behind your favorite faith-based social media accounts. Ones with struggles the same as you. Not just, “I struggle to keep organized and find time to meal prep,” but like real struggles with their faith, with their families, with their relationships. Faith-based accounts are meant to be a place for community, to uplift, but remember the people behind them, they are just as broken as you. We all are. In that brokenness, and recognition of that brokenness, that’s where genuine Christ centered relationships and healing begins. So in my striving for authenticity, here is my ‘outtake’ Instagram photo. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ I definitely had a more ‘photogenic’ one but eh, life isn’t perfect and neither are my insta pictures. Happy Wednesday y’all. 😎
There is nothing more important than your faith. Hold up, let me say that again. There is Nothing. More. Important. Than. Your. Faith. Rewind again and go back to the top. Read it one more time. The goal is sainthood. Your goal? It’s to get your sinful butt to heaven. There are many paths to get there, but the goal... It’s the same. It’s easy to forget that. Super easy. Your faith, your relationship with Christ, it should be at the epicenter of your life, always. This doesn’t mean running around and screaming JESUS DIED FOR YOUR SINS at everyone 24/7. It also doesn’t mean hiding in a corner by yourself with your rosary and your bible and pretending the rest of the world doesn’t exist. It means that at the center of everything we do, your faith should be there. It should inform your habits, your thoughts, your politics, your words, your actions, your vocations, your social media, and your relationships (easier said that stinking done - I know). You don’t have to explicitly be yelling CHRISTIANITY to let it inform and be a part of every facet of your life. Don’t be afraid to let your faith into every little corner. It SHOULD and don’t let the world try to keep your faith in a little box in the corner. They really want to keep it there. Separated from everything else - the thing you do in private and on Sundays but keep it out of everything else. Like it doesn’t have a place anywhere outside of your personal prayer corner. That’s not true. While I say this confidently, let me tell you, this is so difficult for me personally. Ugh, it’s hard. There is always that one corner, that one area that I say ‘anywhere but there’. It’s that one area where you don’t want to let Him in, it’s that area He is needed most. I can’t remember where I heard this or who it came from but I won’t forget it, “the only thing Christ wants from you is everything”. . Side note: I feel super fancy with this French press.
“From Mary we learn to surrender to God’s will in all things. From Mary we learn to trust when all hope is gone.” -St. John Paul II 🕊 A little honesty... I sometimes get hesitant to put quotes that focus too much on Mary. I think it’s because I think of my former non-Catholic self. I know if I would have read a quote like that, I would have used it as arsenal against the Catholic faith. As proof of worshipping the Catholic ‘diety’ of Mary. I always feel I will have to be prepared to defend myself if I put up quotes like that, because if I don’t, I am putting up a ‘misleading’ message. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again (and I’ll keep saying it), understanding Mary and Mariology goes so much deeper than slinging different interpretations of scripture back and forth. It goes back to fundamental principles of the faith and where we derive authority. This isn’t meant to be a (completely) apologetic post. Apologetics in a couple hundreds words doesn’t. work. It’s more to say, I love Mary. She was a hard pill to swallow for me in the beginning. Definitely my biggest ‘hurdle’ to mentally grasp simply because the concept of Mary didn’t exist in my former faith-life. There is no Protestant equal to her to compare to. I won’t say I accepted her overnight, I think it does a disservice to pretend that was true. Honestly, I am still learning to fully appreciate who she is but what I do know is that Christ gave us her for a reason. He gave us His mother and today, as I pray my rosary, I am oh so grateful for that. Happy Feast Day of our Lady of Lourdes. 💙
